Samsung F700 Is Vodafone Exclusive And First Samsung PDA Phone

A new Samsung mobile PDA phone has been picked up by the UK network operator Vodafone as a time limited exclusive handset, this means that for a set amount of time the phone will only be available on Vodafone tariffs until it is released to the other networks.

This is usually no longer than around three months at which stage the handset will be rolled out to the retailers and dealers as well, the downside to this is that for now the customer can only purchase the new Samsung F700 with a Vodafone contract either tying them into a 12 or 18 months contract period, those who are willing to wait will be rewarded with the tariffs offered by the other networks later down the line.

As we mentioned, this is Samsungs first step into the PDA (personal digital assistant) arena, the company has been involved with the manufacture of smart phones before but not with the highly competitive and high specification business orientated PDA market.

Ultra Smart may just be an understatement for this new offering. The new Samsung Ultra Smart F700 is an HSDPA supported, 3.5G Smartphone capable of reaching speeds of up to 7.2 mbps on downloading.

A Tri Band GSM handset, also supporting UMTS, the F700 Ultra Smart comes with GPRS support, bluetooth and EDGE technology. On the back of the smartphone, there is a very impressive 5.0 mega pixel camera, which includes autofocus, with a secondary front mounted camera for video calling.

Similar in design to the Apple iPhone, this new handset unveils a slide out Qwerty keyboard and a 2.8 inch 440 x 240 pixel TFT touchscreen display.

The phone also hides a very unique touchscreen feature, called VibeTonz Technology, whereby the user can feel the buttons of the touchscreen by way of delicate vibrations which are produced when pressed.

Another interesting feature that the Samsung F700 offers, is a drag and drop interface which almost completely removes the need for a stylus in order to control the users desired operations, such as volume, play lists and screen brightness, thus hence increasing the overall user friendly aspect of this phone.

Then there is the Multimedia player supporting video record & playback plus MP3 and ACC audio file formats.

Other advantages of the Samsung F700's 2.8 inch of course lie with surfing the net, accessing and responding to email's and editing documents. So thankfully one can not only assume but note that the Samsung F700 comes with MicroSD expansion, which we would think is a must have considering the vast capability that this handset has to offer.

Overall this is an impressive attempt by Samsung to enter the PDA market, signing the exclusive deal with Vodafone will only help to raise the awareness of this new handset with the networks huge advertising budget and brand name.

If user opinions fall in favour of the Samsung F700 then it is likely that this will not be the last PDA that the company embarks on manufacturing, one thing we all know about Samsung is that their build quality is regarded as one of the best in the industry, so if the features of the F700 live up to the business users requirements they are surely onto a winning formula.
